Fly Little Piggie!

Hey friends!

It's been months since I've last updated. Phew. Sorry about that.

Life gets crazy busy sometimes, and I'm currently in the midst of a crazy busy season. It's good, and I love it, but that means I don't have a lot of time to blog.

So a quick little update on life and what I'm learning. Next Monday (May 12) we will be having a GIVEAWAY and a new recipe - so stay tuned and check back Monday morning!

Meet Neve & Anna.

These are the two little girls I watch on a daily basis. They are a lot of fun, and I love them. But my journey as being their nanny the past few months has taught me a lot about what I will be like as a mom. In both good and bad ways. Things that I will need to work on before I actually become a mother....and things that I am really good at that a lot of other parents struggle with. For example, I'm good at disciplining kids while still being gentle with them. Being stern but friendly. Some parents are a total pushover around their kids and let the children control them. Not me. I got that down.

It's also teaching me that now is the perfect to work on putting together a business plan for my non-profit bakery idea. Nap time is PERFECT for getting things accomplished!

I've also gotten really into running recently. Above is my friend Amy and myself after running the Flying Pig 10k in Cincinnati this past weekend. I never thought I'd be able to complete a 10k...let alone run most of it. And get a time I'm happy with. This is all thanks to my close group of friends deciding to get fit together. I have a hard time motivating myself to work out alone, but when all of friends are going, I'm there. So we've been running anywhere from 1-3 times a week, and it's been awesome. I'm getting better, stronger, and more motivated. I've lost a little bit of weight (dropped a pants size!) and feeling encouraged to continue running! It's also taught me a lot about God and how He gives us the power to endure and complete challenging tasks in His name.

God is also teaching me a lot about pursuit right now, and how He pursues us and love us more than we can ever imagine. It's one of the greatest feelings in the world to feel loved and cherished and wanted. And patience. He's been teaching me a LOT about waiting and being patient over the past couple years. I'm still learning a lot about it.

There is so much more going on in my life, but this blog post would be pages and pages long, so I'll stop here for now.

Come back Monday morning for that giveaway :)

What have you been learning recently?

WIAW #37 + DIY Idea Board

Have you entered my Whirlybird Granola GIVEAWAY yet?! It ends at 11:59PM FRIDAY! Go enter while you still can!

&&

Hey loves! Welcome to another WIAW! This week, I'm also bring you a new DIY project - an idea board! Because I easily forget things, I wanted a place where I could put things I wanted to make or new recipe ideas for the blog, and this is what I came up with.

But first, it's WIAW time! I had a lot of salad this week...

The family I am currently nannying for leaves lots of healthy food in their fridge for healthy lunches, so I've been eating a lot of salads with lean meat. The bottom picture is spaghetti from Maggianos, and the picture on the right is raspberry hot chocolate! Yum.

What healthy meals have you eaten this week?

Okay, on to the DIY IDEA BOARD!!!!

Isn't it so cute?! And it's very easy to make, too.

You'll Need:
A cork board
5-6 pieces of scrapbook paper
Modge Podge (gloss)
A foam brush
Twine
A hot glue gun & glue sticks
Mini clothes pins
Lace

Directions:
1. Rip your scrapbook paper into small pieces. Using the foam brush and modge podge, glue the paper to the cork board. You will want to put glue on the cork board, then put your paper down, then put more glue on top. Arrange your paper in an artsy, random order. Glue unto the board is covered in paper. Allow to dry.
2. Take your lace and cut a board for the top of your board. Hot glue it in place.
3. Cut 3 strips of twine and hot glue on top of the lace (see picture above).
4. Hot glue 3 strips of twine across the body of the board (to hang your ideas on).
5. To hide the hot glue holding the twine in place, hot glue on top of the twine edges, then take another strip of twine, stick it in the glue, and swirl it to make a decorative twine spiral. Do this wherever you have hot glue showing that you want to hide.
6. When the glue has dried, take clothes pins and hang up your ideas! Ta-da!

Like I said, easy peasy. From start to finish this took me a couple of hours to make.

That's all for today! What DIY projects would YOU like to see on Passing Daisies?!

Let's Play Catch Up (and BIG news!)

Hi friends! Sorry I've been so absent in the blogging world recently. I've had a lot going on and not much time to blog.

And by a lot going on, I mean a lot going on. Let me give you the low-down on what's happened in the past month or two.

Crossroads Internship - I may (or may not) have mentioned this already, but I've been interning at Crossroads Church for about a month now. I absolutely love it. What a great place to work! I am blessed to work there. I've really had to push myself to do some things - like write a song for Kids' Club. I was ready to give up on writing the music, but I pushed through and came up with something. And I like it.

CRUX - I bet none of you knows what CRUX is! And that's okay. CRUX is a discipleship training program that Crossroads has on Thursday nights. Basically, a bunch of 18-35 year olds gather together every week to learn about how to disciple others and make discipleship (training others to be Christ-like) the focus of their life. I love the people here like family, and I've really grown a LOT in faith since joining back in March (ish). People have really pushed me, and I've pushed myself. I'm being discipled by a girl I love and admire, reunited with people from college, and am discipling someone myself. Awesome. See the video below to learn exactly what CRUX is!

Nannying - I'm now a nanny twice a week to two boys in Anderson and once a week to two boys in Madeira. I have to say, I really enjoy it. I think I'm going to pursue a full time nannying job in September once my internship has ended, if Crossroads doesn't offer me a job. It's fun and I love it. Plus, it allows me to be crazy creative. We made fossil cookies the other day. How awesome!

Making fossil cookies with the boys I nanny!
Room Redecorating - I'm really into the whole Pinterest/Etsy/hipster/vintage "style" of decor and clothing recently, so I'm slowing creating and redecorating my room to match that style. It's going well, just very, very slowly due the large amount of other things I have going on.

Car Troubles - Yeah... my car broke down this morning. The left control arm snapped in half, allowing me the wonderful opportunity to have my car towed. Great. So... there's that.

New Orleans Mission Trip - That's right! My missions trip to New Orleans is coming up from July 20-28. I'm stoked! I'm leading a group of volunteers, plus another group of vacation Bible camp volunteers. I'm also in charge of leading all the classroom presentations for the K-2 age group at vacation Bible camp. AHHHH I'm nervous but I cannot wait!!! It's gonna be so great! I miss New Orleans.

And FINALLY... what I believe to be some of the most exciting news yet. I'm opening a new blog. Coming soon... Anchored in Hope! A blog about faith in every day life. I've had a lot of God-related stuff I've wanted to blog about recently, and I think this is a great option - especially since I'm a social media intern for a church! I plan on having a staff of guest writers for this blog, so if you're interested, let me know!

That was a lot of spewing information. I have a lot of product reviews coming up soon, since I'm super behind in them. Yikes. Sorry to the companies who have sent me product!

Love you all. Talk to you soon, I PROMISE!
